Understanding Bazi (Four Pillars)
What is Bazi?
Bazi (八字), also known as Four Pillars of Destiny, is a traditional Chinese astrological system that analyzes a person's destiny based on their birth year, month, day, and hour. Each pillar consists of a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch.
The Four Pillars:
- Year Pillar (年柱): Represents ancestors, childhood (0-16 years)
- Month Pillar (月柱): Represents parents, career (17-32 years)
- Day Pillar (日柱): Represents self and spouse (33-48 years)
- Hour Pillar (时柱): Represents children, later life (49+ years)
Day Master (日主):
The Heavenly Stem of your Day Pillar is your Day Master - the most important element representing your core self and personality.
Five Elements (五行):
